Street sweeping of local streets in South Windsor begins the week of March 28th, weather permitting.  Due to the elimination of sand during the winter season we are asking residents to please not rake their lawns and yard waste into the street. We have been experiencing some difficulty with the disposal of the sweepings when mixed with yard wastes.

Public Works crews will begin in District 1 on or about March 28th, 2011.  District 1 is bounded by Avery Street on the west and the Vernon Town line.  The area includes streets in Avery Heights, Woodland Drive area, Pine Knob Drive area, and the Partridge Lane area.  Also included is the Debbie Drive-Lisa Drive area.

District 2 sweeping will begin on or about April 4th, 2011.  District 2 includes the streets in the area bounded on the east by Avery Street and on the west by Ellington Road (RT 74) and Buckland Road and includes the Orchard Hill, Fairview Drive-Tumblebrook Drive area and the Rimfield Drive-Carson Way area.

Sweeping in District 3 will begin on or about April 11th, 2011.  District 3 includes all streets south and west of Sullivan Avenue (RT 194) and west of Buckland Road and includes Pleasant Valley Estates, Main Street, the LeFoll Boulevard area, and the Quarry Brook area.

Sweeping in District 4 will begin on or about week of April 25th, 2011.  District 4 is the area north of Sullivan Avenue (RT 194) and west of Ellington Road (RT 74) and includes Farnham Estates, Morgan Farms, Sunset Terrace and the Windshire Drive - Abbe Road area.

The program is expected to take thirty working days and be completed by the middle of May, weather permitting.

Questions may be directed to Street Services at 648-6366 between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, weekdays.  Program information is also available at the Town of South Windsor’s website at www.southwindsor.org and the Public Works Information Line at 648-6371.
