South Windsor residents are reminded that grass clippings can no longer be disposed of with the refuse.
State Law now requires that landfills and energy recovery facilities can no longer accept grass clippings. Therefore, the South Windsor Town Council has passed a resolution prohibiting the mixing of grass clippings and trash. Grass clippings will no longer be collected at the curb by the Town. Trash mixed with grass clippings will not be collected by the Town.
Alternatives involve leaving grass clippings on the lawn, private contractor removal, resident disposal at a State permitted site, or backyard composting.
