Matt Streeter is currently serving his second term as Mayor of the Town of South Windsor. Matt is the first South Windsor High School graduate to be elected this community’s mayor. He is also a second generation Mayor, following in his father’s footsteps; Lincoln Streeter served two terms as Mayor of South Windsor (1989-1993). Matt had previously served a term as Deputy Mayor (2001-2003) under current State Representative Bill Aman.
Matt has been an elected official for the past twenty-one consecutive years. He is serving his sixth term on the Town Council. He has served as liaison to every major board and commission since first being elected to the Town Council. He previously has served one term as Town Treasurer and four terms as Constable. Prior to elected office, Matt served a term as SWHS student representative to the Board of Education. At age 39, Matt has served more that half of his life as an elected official of the community.
During Matt’s years on the council, he has been an advocate for preservation of open space as well as addressing the community’s space needs for its municipal departments. He believes that the town should live within its means and has supported such items as shared services between the Town Council and the Board of Education. “As a lifelong South Windsor resident, I am committed to preserving the town’s quality of life as well as making strides to improve our community for our children.”
Matt and his wife, Karla, live on Oak Street. They have three young sons: Drew (age 6), and three year old twins Sam & Will. Their family is communicants of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
