Cary Prague has been active in the South Windsor community and a resident since 1978. In 2006 he was named Businessperson of the Year by the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce. He has served as a member of the Town Council since 2004 and was previously on the Board of Education. He is currently President Elect of the Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer of the South Windsor Community Foundation and a board member of South Windsor Rotary Club. He also served as Vice Chairperson of the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Board of Assessment Appeals. He is a
corporator of Rockville Bank and was co-chair of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event for several years. He is co-chair of the South Windsor Strawberry Fest and is currently organizing the 2008 First Night Celebration to be held at Evergreen Walk on December 31. Cary also taught computer programming at South Windsor High School as a volunteer.
Since 1993 Cary Prague has owned and operated Database Creations, Inc., a South Windsor based software development company and in 2003 started Tall Traders, an ebay Trading Post also in South Windsor. He is an expert in database technology and a pioneer in the personal computer software industry. Cary has worked with companies such as Microsoft, Ashton-Tate, Lotus, Borland and Compaq. He is a winner of the Best Access Application from MSN and was named one of the Access Heroes by Microsoft is 2003. He has beta tested and contributed feature ideas for every version of Microsoft Office since 1986. Prior to forming his own business, Cary was a Director of Information Systems and Director of Finance for The Travelers Insurance Company.
Cary is a nationally best-selling author of more than 60 computer books and hundreds of magazine articles. He is a winner of the Computer Press Association's Book of the Year award. His books have appeared on many best-seller lists including Barnes and Noble's Top Ten Computer Books and Amazon.com's Top 100.
