LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM - 12/12/11
Curbside vacuum leaf collection has begun final passes in all four leaf districts in South Windsor. Residents are reminded to rake leaves to the curb and not into the street for collection. Final collection is expected to be completed by Friday, December 16th.
The leaf compost site on Burgess Road is open and will remain open to residents for the disposal of leaves until December 31, 2011 when the site closes for the season. The drop off site is open 7 days a week from 7am to 5pm. Residents are asked to remove all containers including plastic bags so the leaves can be composted without the need for hand labor to remove non-compostable material. Refuse containers are available at the drop off site to discard the plastic bags.
The last bag collection will take place on Saturday, December 17th. Only paper bags will be collected. Please have the bags out at the curb Friday evening. Collection crew members will not go beyond the street line to retrieve bags.
