MILLER ROAD CULVERT REPLACEMENTS
Project Description
Three culverts that carry the upper reaches of the Podunk River and its tributaries in the Miller Road area are undersized and in need of replacement. The Culvert crossing Miller Road between Ellington Road and Stonefield Trail overflowed in the heavy rains in October of 2005 causing a portion of Miller Road to wash out.
Water also overtopped this road in June 2006. The Culvert under Miller Road between Barber Hill Road and Foster Street Extension is also undersized and overflowed in the heavy rains in October 2005. The culverts crossing Foster Street Extension by the driveway for the Saint Lawrence Chapel also overtopped in October 2005 and needs to be replaced.
Project Status
The culvert on Miller Rd between Barber Hill Rd and Foster St Ext. was replaced in 2007.
The culvert on Foster Street Extension was replaced in 2007.
The culvert on Miller Road near Ellington Road was replaced in the summer of 2008.
As part of this project the headwalls were replaced, new guiderails installed and the slopes stabilized with rip rap and grass at all three culvert locations
