GRAHAM ROAD CULVERT
Project Description
The culvert under Graham Road north of Ayers Road is a twin pipe culvert with stone walls. Water from the Sunset Terrace, Mark Drive, Hazel Street area, as well as water from the Little League complex on Ayers Road drains to the brook that flows through these culverts. This is the low point in this section of Graham Road and storm water runs off the street directly into the brook because there are no drainage structures in the road. The side walls are falling in and there is erosion under the pipes. Water flows under the pipes leaving the potential to undermine the road. The headwalls are very close to the pavement leaving a steep drop-off on the west side. There is severe erosion of the brook channel and side slopes downstream of these culverts. The guiderail along the road by these culverts is old
and not fully supported.
Project Status
These culverts and the headwalls were replaced in the fall of 2008. as part of this project, new storm drainage structures and pipes were installed in Graham Road, the channel erosion was stabilized and new guiderails were installed.
