FELT ROAD BRIDGE OVER FARM BROOK
Project Description
The Felt Road Bridge over the Farm Brook is an old bridge and is in need of repair. A Study done in 2005 by WMC Consulting Engineers found that this bridge was constructed around 1955 and has deteriorated significantly. The underside of the concrete bridge deck and the concrete abutments are deteriorating, the railing is inadequate and there are utilities that run through the bridge and obstruct the flow path.
Project Status
The Felt Road bridge over Farm Brook was replaced in 2009. This work required the relocation of all the utilities by this bridge including the sanitary sewer, water main, storm drainage, electrical, telephone and cable. The new bridge is a three sided concrete box to preserve the natural stream bottom. The concrete end walls were cast and stained so the visible surfaces look like they are made from stone. The bridge includes a new railing and there are new guide rails on all four sides that meet current DOT safety standards.
